On March 19, Brown Aveda Institute hosted their annual Scholarship Contest for 2017, changing the future careers of two talented upcoming students.
After winning her own scholarship set her on the path to becoming the stylist she is today, Aveda founder Nancy Brown makes sure to give students without prior training the opportunity to receive full tuition for their education.
This year, contestants arrived in Mentor, Ohio with their own supplies, as well as a model of their choice ready to be made over. After three hours of fierce creativity and hard work, they transformed their models with personalized hair and makeup for a completed look.
The Scholarship Contest then merged with the Earth Month Fashion Show at NOAH's of Mentor, giving the candidates and the judges an opportunity to witness the finished styles in action.
Two winners were chosen to receive full paid scholarships, which includes tuition, kit fees, enrollment, and application fees. The winner for the Cosmetology Program is chosen for the best overall hair and makeup, while the Esthetics Program is judged based on the best makeup application, along with a submitted essay.
