STEPS TO FILL OUT FAFSA
STEP ONE: APPLY FOR A PIN
- Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov
- Select ‘PIN SITE’ at the top of the FAFSA Homepage.
- NOTE: Both Student and Parent must apply for a PIN
- Read information then click on Apply Now!
- The PIN Application Process consists of 3 steps:
- Step 1: Enter Personal Information
- Step 2: Select a Challenge Question you will remember! This will be used in the case you have forgotten your PIN later. TIP: The answer to your challenge question is case sensitive It may be a good idea to answer the question in all lower case or all upper case.
- Step 3: Designate your own PIN
- Print your confirmation page for your records.
STEP TWO: Fill out FAFSA
- Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov
- Make sure you have your PIN available to sign your FAFSA application. NOTE: Dependent students will also need parent’s PIN
- Select ‘START HERE’
- Log-in: Follow instructions for entering student information
- Select the correct FAFSA Year you will be completing
- Continue to complete your online form; providing your PIN number and information from your appropriate tax return and W-2’s
- Enter Brown Aveda Institute School Code: 036263
Approximately 3-5 days after you submit your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the U. S. Department of Education that summarizes the data you reported on the FAFSA. Review your SAR for accuracy. If corrections are needed, use your PIN to make them on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Keep the SAR for your records
Retain copies of your completed FAFSA, corrections you make to your FAFSA, and all IRS tax forms. Applicants for federal aid may be required to submit last year’s tax forms for verification
You must re-apply for FAFSA each year. Follow the same steps provided above for completing your FAFSA Renewal.
